Our mission

The VMM works towards an environment with clean water and air, and steers climate adaptation efforts in the Flanders region of Belgium.

For current and future generations in Flanders we strive to ensure:

• clean, attractive and sufficient water,
• healthy air,
• the adaptation of our environment to climate change.

Our environment faces major challenges. Climate change is having an impact in various ways. In recent years, we have experienced the effects of increasing heat, drought, and flooding in Flanders. Air quality also deserves our attention in order to achieve a healthier living environment for people and nature.

The challenges are great, but we can meet them if we work together and strengthen each other. That is what the VMM stands for.
